gday, I was putting in some wheel spacers today, when i went to get the hub off to change the wheel studs over, the inner race of the bearing closest to the trailing arm stayed on the stub axle and wont move. Does anyone have any tips for removing? I'm worried that it may have worn a groove into the axle. Also are the brake shoes for minis made from asbestos? Thanks in advance |

If you don't have one of those 3-fingered bearing pullers, you could try heating up the bearing suface with an oxy torch then tapping it off with a punch or cold chisel. |

Or you can take to it with Mr Anglegrinder, grind a big flat on top until almost (not quite!!) to the stubshaft. Then hit the thin part with a cold chisel and a BFH to split or stretch it.. |

Dixon Bainbridge wrote: Also are the brake shoes for minis made from asbestos? Thanks in advance The original shoes and many early replacement items contained asbestos. The use of asbestos in brake shoes and pads has been banned for at least 15 years. Those competitors of mature vintage will fondly remember the DS11 brake pad material. I was brilliant; but full of those nasty fibres. |
