is anybody familiar with the article on using synthetic oil in Mini Magic issue No. 4
Its the mag with Craig's Sprint on the cover. I'm thinking about giving the Royal Purple a go.

I'm not a pro, but synthetics arent recommended for the old a series because the seals and general manufacture tolerances aren't as good as modern engines.
The A+ engines may run happily on semi-synthetic though.

i say dont waste your money on fancy oils for a stocko smallblock a-series!

k-mart, valvoline, castrol gtx,

whatever cheap 20/50 oil will do the job,

its cheap now, but 40 years ago it would have been performance oil for the mini

oh, and buy what you can afford to buy lots of for top ups and frequent oil changes,
i have selected penrite 20/50 at $20 a bottle
