Post subject:  Radiator Removal

ok so ive put the engine in ang virtually evrything ready to realise that ive forgotten the pulley before the spacer on my engine fan doh' , ive been told to take off all the shround screws and undo the piping... but i know IF i can get them undone i wont be able to get all of them back.. so i was thinking of undoing the engine bolts and jacking it up... will this work ? or is there a better way ?

Undo the two bolts on the top of the engine mounting bracket under the radiator. These hold the radiator support bracket to the shroud at the bottom (its got the rubber grommets in it).

This should allow some movement forward to get at the rear screws of the shroud for re-fitment.

There is no way this would work in my car, the engine has too many mounts to undo to make enough room. I don't think it would get past the fan either, not that I take it out that often.

The way I do it is take off the top shroud and remove fan then pull out the whole s4!t. To take off the top of the shroud I have to undo the two bolts I suggested to get to the screws at the rear.

you think you cant get them undone, but i have done this job many times

the trick is once its apart to cut the rear quarter from the bottom shroud, this makes getting the bottom hose off less than impossible in future instances.

just be glad that you're doing this job on a clubman!
