Post subject: | van windows |
howdy all, Just a quick question, I am going to be putting my 74 van on the road so my little brother can drive it. I need to put the side windows back on (they were off when I bought it) and I was wondering if you need a locking strip with the rubber or not? And a rating of difficulty. The car is 400 km's away so I just can't run out and check and I need to purchase anything i need before I go up there on holidays in 2 weeks. PS, if you get a chance melbournians, go check out the Anti-Nowhere League tonight or tomorrow night at The Arthouse Hotel- they are an awesome live act! |

Post subject: | window rubbers |
A little difficult but new rubbers and a bit of soap makes it possible. No locking strips with side window rubbers. |

I purchased my ones from Clark Rubber, with the lock strip. (That chrome one above looks great). I used soapy water and a bit of plastic cable in the track, pull the cable out as the glass slides in. The first one took ages, the second 20 minutes or so. Two people would make it easier - wet soapy glass and all. The main prob with mine was the sides of the van were a little flexy. |

yeah the sides of mine seemed a little flexy. Thanks for the advice. Soap, water and patience seems the key. cheers |

Post subject: | window fit |
The window rubber that clark rubber stocks is a generic fit and is narrower than original mini stuff, a good mini part supplier should have the right one, costs a bit more tho. if u want to use a lock strip try to get the tool to fit it, they are impossible without it ![]() ![]() |
