I want to remove the hinges on the A-Panel side. the nut furthest the firewall is no problem, but the one closest to the firewall is something crazy to try remove. Any ideas trhat may help would be apreciated. Thanks....

Socket with angly gizmo works every time for me. But it is a bugger of a job.

A short Sidchrome 7/16" ring/OE spanner with the ring end severely ground down in diameter.
And with the offset angle bent a bit.

Hmmm, I have a 7/16 sidchrome, will try it on the grinder nice and slow, don't want to heat it too much. If that doesn't work, i'll cut it off and replace the inner and outer A-panels as this has to be done anyways. Thank gawd for TIG and new panels.
I have found a fair bit of nicely hidden rust in Ed, first off he was a very straight car, now I'm finding bog city. At least I am doing it right first time and replacing bog with steel cuts, bloody bog merchants should have been shot. I'v actually found a fair bit of lead wiping also, that amused me....

Just go to supercheap or bunnings and get a budget 7/16 socket to bastardise instead of your sidchrome , doesn't matter if you go too far and damage it then ....

My Sid's are my cheap set, its my Gedore set that does me proud.
In saying that, I will go get a cheap ring from repco and grind that.

Like DrMini, I have ground down a 7/16 ring and it served its purpose but I now have a 1/4 drive socket set that works admirably in the confined space.

Use a ratchet and 1/4 or 3/8 flexidrive behind your socket...piece of cake

LOL, I used my flexi drive and found the nuts to be so rusted into place, I had been spraying them with WD40 over the last few nights to try make it easier, but ended up rounding off the nuts, they wouldn't budge, and that was with a new socket. So I removed them the easy way, got the very slim cutting disc out and cut through the A-Panel a slight angle and cut the shank of the bolt. Whalla... presto, its off!!
