The makeing of a Dashboard.
Ok so here it is. Ive spent some time on this. I dont want to admit how many hours its taken me to get this far, as much of its been trail and error followed by more error.
1st thing I did was make the flat dash board out of 3mm MDF. This was pretty simple I just used some thin cardboard and preseed it over the dash rails and traced the rails onto the cardboard. I then cut it a little bigger and trimmed to size..
I wanted the gauges to run in a line to run acrose the dash however I have a weber box and this takes up a lot of room behind the dash so I had to biuld a elevated box of the dash itself. This is good as I can get the gauges much squarer to look at rather then pointed at the passenger as the dash curves... Wich is where it got bloody hard.. Anyway A bit of hot glue got it looking pretty rough with a lot of gaps.. I then fiberglassed and screwed it all togther and then skimmed with bog. Needs some highfill now and shes all done. The panel that holds the gauged is removvable so I dont have to pull the whole dash out if I want to change the layout in future.
Same colour as car would also look good but just think of gloss black with Cooper S style smiths gauges.....ahhhh beautiful...
