Does anyone know the correct coil for a metro 1275 motor with electronic ignition? I am presently using a bosch gt40 coil. Apparently l have read on a few sights that with the metro electronic ignition you need a special coil.

The book for my Austin Montego which uses the same type of ignition as the Metro says...

Ignition Coil
Type................................ Ducellier 54041372 or 520029A
Current Consumption- engine idling... 2.3 to 2.7ohms
Primary resistance at 20?C ............ 0.77 to 0.87ohms

Distributor
Type....................... Lucas 59 DM4
Reluctor air gap ...... 0.008 to 0.014" (0.20 to 0.35mm)

Ignition amplifier ..... Lucas AB14 or Ducellier.

I know it does not answer your question but there should be enough info there for someone else to chime in!

The coil listed in the Bosch catalogue for the Metro is part number 0 221 119 360 they do not list a GT-40 for them.

I'll give that cooper a good home for you - what I said to you is exactly what I'd do with it, hey, I'd even keep it in mobile storage for you if you wanted ;)

Didn't they have the resistor switched in for startup?
I think that means you will simple need the GT40R instead of the GT40.

Bosch recomends the GT40 range of coils for points only. They list other part numbers for all electronic systems.

I know this ressurects an old thread but I need much the same info which didn't seem to be clear when the last repy was posted.

I've got an 4180A 45DM4 Lucas dizzy with the AB14 attached. The coil is Bosch 0221110999.

So the question is which of the GT40/R's can you use in that circumstance. Is it like the pulsar dizzy conversion and you can use the R version or is it same as the Petroix or other electronic kits :?: :?:
