 Yep, trailered home the white 1963 850 rolling shell tonite.

Spent a long time doing nothing in a farmers shed in Grenfell.

Originally sold by Lancaster Motors in William Street as Shadow Blue, then Burgundy and now Chalky White!!

998 and original 850 engines to come sometime later (three man lift at 333 lbs!! each)

The journey begins.........photos to follow.......News at Ten!

So now you can say you have a mini Mick!... not just a commodore to club memebers. I have managed mini powerplants even with manifold on with two people (although when antony thought he'd give it a go he basically dropped his side on the driveway  - was only a parts car unit tho). If you need a hand lifting motors just give me a call.

Nah, too too much work on the ex-Mrs Fred Daley 850 in the chookshed. Will be a good project for Ian though when he returns - it is now officially his!

Thanks Chris, thats exactly why I said three man lift!! The 1984 VH did well towing the Min over the big hill on the parkway (must get a towbar on the VS.....) - nyah nyah - holdens are good for somethings!! Might just take you up on the offer for help - not this weekend though.

Two "Tech Day" opportunities this weekend, assist Minstar with clubby engine removal (Saturday arvo?) and help Rob W sort out the spaghetti of his new wiring loom (Sunday morning?).

Cheers, Mick

Sliding Windows - yes
Pudding Stick - no (floor has been cut to take the 998 remote)

My van started out life in shadow blue, there are bits poking through all over the place cos the poxy colour over it was sprayed really badly with basically no preparation by the previous owner. I've got a nice strong 850 motor and gearbox if you want to come and get it ;)

Simon could always deliver the 850 when he comes up to my place to pick up the GTI!

If you need any help Mick just ask.
You should have asked last week because my mate from Grenfell was picking up a heap of cars in Sydney and he was coming down with an empty trailer and truck!

I know of a nice 850 in Goulburn that needs saving, I just need to find the owner.

Thanks a lot Mike, You can bet I will be calling for help A LOT!.

The car (evidently) was originally from Grenfell....via Yass....I bought it off an ACT Mini CC member who has had it here in Canberra for quite some years....need to get around to doing a rego history at some stage.

One question I have asked around is "are Morris 1100 master cylinders the same as Mini?"....surely you know the answer to this one!!

I washed it down this arvo and fiddled about a bit:

doors need repinning
has a starter button!
two holes in the floor! (magic wand or remote)
very little rust!!!!! (bloody amazing!)

Simon, if you want to drop off the 850 at my place on the way through...then Cheers Mate!! pm me and I will make it easy for you to find me and I will help you on the way to Morris' if you don't know Canberra all that well :)

Mick, Morris 1100 master cylinders are the same .... as the Cooper S. The brake master cylinder is larger because the disc brakes need more fluid. The clutch cylinder is the same.

Replace the brake hoses! Replace the clutch hose! Check the clamp bolt on the bottom of the column.

Do you need any bits? (like the master cylinders you gave me)
