Hey guys, I've got a mini deluxe that's been sitting in the garage for a while, I used to start her up every week but I've been lazy and for the last 3, maybe even 4 months I havn't started her up once (one day i'll get it on the road, one day...). The engine was in pretty good condition when I left it so don't want to risk any damage. Just wondering if there is any precautions I should take before starting it back up after such a long time sitting, I've heard people say to put some diesal into the carb if the cars been sitting for a while (no idea why though). Any ideas, or should I just turn the key and hope for the best? |

Diconnect the high tension lead to the coil & crank the engine over to get some oil pressure up, & a squirt of start ya barstard down the carby would'nt hurt either. Doogie |

Hahahaha, "start ya bastard", I thought you were referring to wd40 or something before I googled it and found it's a real product. Thanks for the advice too btw. |

when you get it on the road be careful of the brakes, they dont like to sit around. i think the pressure drops or air gets in the system somehow...not too sure but test them before you go out on the road ![]() |

I hadn't started mine in over a year, I changed the oil, pulled plugs out and sprayed some diluted(wd-40) oil in, cranked motor to get oil pressure, refit plugs, added some injector cleaner to tank, pushed car onto trailer and went to MDU, started engine, warmed up, pulled 94 hp on the dyno. Daniel Do you mean take the plugs out and actually squirt wd40 down there? |

Engine Oil diluted with a solvent or WD-40 so I can spray it. Borrow a spray bottle, add oil and then add some solvent till you can spray it in. about 50/50 or so should work. I've done it before pouring oil in but I've got a dish in the piston like an ashtray so all the oil sits there, not on the walls of the bore. It ends up going into the zoorst etc on start-up and smokes like the batmobile for an hour after. Daniel |

Daniel Good advice...as is, select 4th and gently rock the car back and forward until you are sure the pistons are moving freely...then go through the starting sequence. |
