just wanted to thank everyone who helped me get my mini on the road, she's noisey as,the most uncomfortable ride ever, smells of fuel and has seatbelts that would be slack on an elephant. wow id missed driving a mini. any way i have two problems which i need help with as i feel if left they will only get worse. 1.i have a rubbing sound which seems to come from the front passenger side, but jacking up, i found the breaks nor the wheel bearing seems to be rubbing. 2. i also have the noisiest gear lever in the history of motoring i drive with one hand so as to keep it quiet, not sure if this is related to the fact that when i accelerate the gearbox trys its best to leave the confine of the car. cheers again steve |

1. Fix the fuel leaks, 2. Get better seat belts. |

Gear box mounts sound screwed? Or possibly even the lower engine bracket has snapped leaving way to much movement down there (?). As for the petrol, it's just a matter of finding the source and fixing it. The rubbing noise might be tyre against body, or possibly worn knuckle joints? At least you have seatbelts, I don't (yet, just tracked down some external bolts off a holden). Shard |

hi there We had the same problems with our daughters mini, check the gear box mounts and the remote gear change bolts and the engine mounts. The fuel smell it will probably be something to with the breather hose on the tank, try checking that out. |
