They make it easier to see fluid/check level and give a slight increase in volume....downside is you have to be very careful not to knock them off the top of the canister when stooging around under the bonnet.

just makes it easier to pour i suppose, getting fluid in to the maters without spilling it everywhere (and without a funnel...) is near impossible!

but surely they would thread on so you coldnt knock them off?

I got them, they aren't very breakable, well not new anyways, possibly when they get old they will wear out. On my brake booster with those on, I bumped one and it snapped the solder on the master cylinder, re-paired that but it turned out it was shot anyways, so i got a brand new cooper s one, and still put these on. Makes checking level so much easier, doesn't look very nice tho.

They seal really well with little rubber o-rings, and yes, they do thread on.

You only really need one on the brake MC. The old tin type brake MC's are supposed to have a design flaw which can allow air into the brake pipes (presumably at repeated very tight cornering??) as the reservoir is too shallow. Thats why the cooper S reservoirs were a bit taller. Thats why they made this extension for the brake MCs too.
Obviously making top up easier and indicating fluid level too are added bonuses.

BTW correct me if I'm wrong - the car in the pic has the MCs turned around with pipes towards the firewall and the openings towards the front - for easier top up and thats ok - but havent these cylinders been swapped in places (brake Mc where the clutch one should be and vice versa) ????

Karcraft only had one in stock when I got mine and am waiting for more to come in - if you need caps they are separate - and there is about 4 different types - ask for the right ones to fit
