ok over the last year of me owning the mini i have done some very dogdie thing with regards as aligator clips, paper clips and scrap wire, now i have a diagram of the original loom that went into the car at 76 but considering the fact that it has 2 fuses and no relays, i am going to build a new 1, but i need a diagram over prefrably a newer (jap mini ) mini, i wanted to include relays and fuses for everything, ive wired up boats and i cant see much difference between, or alternativly how much does the all ready made loom cost and do they have relay and more than 3 fuses cheeers |

Think upwards of 400 dollars, but they are pretty nice. When you do this you can specify the number of fuses you are after, add extra wires, accessories or relays, include speaker wires, reversing light wires anything you ask for and they are then bound up nicely and ready to install. If you have the cash then I can reccomend it, the result is proffesional, looks a million dollars and will work for many years with no problems. |

so far ive drawn up my new wiring loom, taken from the colour and idea of the original loom diagram, how many relay could a 60amp altinator manage, i have the ignition, headlamps, hibeams & fog, stop lights, and the cooloing system, |

Yeah sure, it is all part of the experience, I've done both ways asa well. The remade loom was for a resto, and the other ones I've done for my own or a mate's hill climb cars. The problem with home spun looms is that it's hard to get the number of different colours you need. You can however drop into a specialist place andf buy about 5 meters of each colour, this is a good idea. You can label the cables, but however many labels you make, it will get confusing and they all eventually wear or fall off. You have to stay on top of the wires if they are all the same colours, I've done this but it isn't ideal. good luck with it all anyway, it's a good insite into a cars wiring layout, and you'll never be stuck on a fault again! |

375 with a 475 buy it now?? It's a bit stiff at that price. Looks like some wire and 4 dollar plugs from Jaycar. You can do this yourself, and it won't save too much time over doing it from scratch. These guys did mine some time ago, they also have prices on the site I believe.: http://www.classicwiringlooms.com.au/ When I placed the order they asked all the right questions. For example; did I want light relays, if so where. Alternator or Generator, type of alternator. Where i wanted the fuse box. Extra wires for accessories and alarms etc and so forth. I also had a choice between braid or tape wrapping. EDIT : Prices have gone up somewhat, yikes! When I did mine it was 245 delivered to the door! (That was in 1997 though) |

Yeah they are pretty expensive. Like I said they were very cheap once..... What you can do is get a couple of second hand looms, cable tie the junctions where the wires come into and out of the loom (this will help to remind you of whrere the wires need to enter and exit the loom as you modify it). Then cut away all the old braid. Add and subtract wires as you wish using the entry point of the existing wires to know where you're at. Make one from a couple of old looms if you need to. Solder new connections on the end of the wires and away you go. All you need to do then is add a few rolls of tape to re-bind the loom back up. |

was there not a Guy in WA that makes looms to suit what you want. I can not remember the name. |
