Im thinking of doing something to my Mini Inlet/exhaust setup. At the moment its all completely stock 1098cc. I was thinking: Maniflow LCB - Connecting Pipe - RC40. I also need an Inlet Manifold and carb setup. Im in Adelaide close to MiniSport. What do you guys Recommend?

for an 1100 lcb are probably better as for the ebay item, SU is the type of carbuerettor (bad spelling!) i dont no exactly wat it stands for, if your car is completely stock then ur inlet and outlet manifolds are moulded into the one piece so if you put on extractors you will need a new inlet manifold

wat type of carbi are you running at the moment, cause u have to make sure the inlet manifold will match if you get it seperate to the carby

SU stands for Skinner's Union. They started making carbs just before WWI and progressed from there - I think. Sorry - its been a while since I've read about them.

Its completely stock. It looks like the stock exhaust is together with the inlet manifold.
I need to know the cheapest power/sound upgrade for my mini. I think ill have to get the normal inlet manifold they have at Mini Sports which is water heated or something, and its 1.75 inches

Your observation is right, it is all one part so you WILL have to get a inlet manifold when you get the new exhaust.

You can get water heated manifolds, although, to me, the 1.75" sounds like the common LCB exhaust measurement (the exit) where the exhaust pipe continues on through to the muffler etc.

Does this help??????

Which SU carbie are you talking about???? The one on the listing?? It depends on which type of carbuettor you get, for example, a HS2 (1 1/4") has two diagonal bolts that hold it onto the manifold whereas the HIF44 has 4 bolts in a square shape that hold it on. You have to base your inlet manifold off of the type of carbie you will be using.

So - to summerise, What carbie are you going to be using? The HIF44 from eBay and that inlet manifold or the one that is currently on your car??? (I think the 1098cc's came with HS4's (1.5") ones standard.

Sorry, was typing when you were.

Yeah so if you have arranged a inlet manifold to suit a 1.75" carbie it should fit that carburettor.

So you have already arranged your manifold and are looking for a carb or the other way around?

Your motor should have a 1.25 or 1.5 SU at the moment. Sounds like price is a key factor, what I've done in the past is get extractors - I used 3-1.

Carefully cut your stock manifold with a grinder - you only want the inlet part, so grind into the exhaust area and then clean it up. If it's a 1.25 manifold, I'd get a 1.5 SU and aftermarket inlet, or once again - buy a stock 1.5 manifold (inlet / exhaust) and cut it.

I'm sure there's post about LCB and 3-1 on here, from memory the 3-1 on small stock motors are better.

Keep in mind you will have to tune the motor and probs play with needle setups in the SU after fitting the carb / extractors. Make sure you save some $$$'s and talk to a good mini / SU tuning place. No use getting / fitting new bits and having an out of tune car and no money.
