I've just had a 2nd new switch cark it, this one only lasted 6 months. ![]() Previous new one lasted 3 weeks. Dunno where these are made now but I reckon they are crap. Original one lasted 35 years....... That's it- tomorrow HaHa is getting an ex-Clubby mechanical switch. ![]() |

I don't think it is just brake light switches. I got my 1100 in 1998 and in the first two years I fitted three different oil pressure switches. I ended up getting a Hella switch and it was good. I changed the brake light switch about 5 years back and it is still fine. |

BATCH??? ![]() ![]() They are ALL ****** bad, IMO!! ![]() Anyway even with a GOOD one, by the time the hydraulic type work, you have already thrown the anchor out and someone is 1/2 way up yer clacker... The mechanical one will bring the lights on BEFORE you get any brake pressure. ![]() |

Like oil pressure switches you can get brake light switches that will come on at different pressures. Mine comes on at a very low pressure, I can get the brake lights on well before the brakes are on. The switch that I replaced was the opposite, I could stop the car without the lights coming on! The mechanical one will bring the lights on BEFORE you get any brake pressure. ![]() ![]() |

Clubby mechanical switch is in now, I made a bracket from some Dexion slotted angle, and bolted it onto the pedal box. ![]() |

The micro switches you need can be had from Dick Smith or Jaycar for less than 5 bucks. They're good for 10 amps so are more than adequate. |
