hey i was just wondering if i could use a MK1 mini deluxe or Cooper Mk1 with alternator. braided version wiring loom? i have a 62 cooper that is going to have a 1275 in it can some one help thanks Dale |

Yeah there should be no problem. A couple of things may be in a slightly different location to the earlier loom so be prepared if wires don't line up to where the old one use to be. Things that come to mind are the fuse box (probably the same though)and horn. The wiring to the indicator stalk will be different as will be the horn. The lighting in the speedo binnacle will need to be modded slightly as the indicator lights and warning lights are slightly different. All very minor stuff, but a little work. Make sure also that there is a wire to the aft end for the electric fuel pump. If the car you are getting it from had a mechanical fuel pump, you might need to add this. Any others anyone can think of? It would want to bew a pretty nice donor loom to go to all the hassle perhaps. Or you could mod the existing generator loom to run the alternator instead. It always looks a little less neat but can be done rather nicely. |
