Quote: Yes, this is a pickup truck - a version of the Mini Cooper called the Austin Mini Pickup released for the '65 model year. These were quite popular in their day, but you won't find too many of them around...
WRONG WRONG WRONG! Austin Mini Cooper was a model of the Austin Mini (which was called the Austin SE7EN early on) which mean the Pickup is a variation of the Austin Mini, not an Austin Mini Cooper Pickup.... If they are going to do a write up on the car, at least get it right, roundnose does not always = cooper. In fact Cooper's are rather rare! |

He called it an Austin Mini Pickup..fair call on the "version of a mini cooper" but stop being so anally retentitive and just be happy that at least people know what it is in the firstplace. I'd much rather have yelled at me "look! a mini cooper" then "look! at that little clown car!" ![]() |

I just think, that if they get all their American car info correct (Chevy's and Fords etc.) then why don't they get their British info correct? I see this tons, does actaully happen here a lot too. But at elast most people in Australia call a Mini a Mini. I was just pointing out their fault. It was a simple mistake, if they put 10 seconds into research then they would ahve got it right, what that says to me is, "I couldn't be bothered to research your car, so I just went on what I think to be the truth." Go to wikipedia and look up 'Mini' it has it all. |

Yes, I find this American habit of calling every roundnose Mini a "Mini Cooper" is very annoying. It's like calling every Commodore a HSV. At "Calendar Club" stands in most Melbourne shopping centres they are selling a Classic Mini calendar with photography by some guy named Ron Kimball. Every Mini in the calendera is supposedly a cooper, even when there was no Coopers made that year (eg: 1975 Austin Mini Cooper). That guy has been producing Mini Calendars for years, and he gets it wrong EVERY YEAR! ![]() BTW: Before anyone calls me a Cooper snob, I'm not! I've never owned a genuine Cooper yet. |

Last official Mini exports to USA were in ~1967. Design rules etc combined to kill it off. Amazing how many late UK Minis are there now, masquerading as `1960-1967' cars... with airbags, MPI, etc. the word is `reVIN'..... ![]() ![]() |

This creature was in last months' mini magazine by the way. Calling a mini a mini coopr is allmost like calling a mini pick-up a mini ute (just kidding ![]() |
