hey all, The front windscreen in my mini is in need of replacing and the seal is in terrible condition and it leaks when it rains. so i have been lookin for seals on ebay and some come with the chrome lockin strip and some dont......is it alright to use the original chrome lockin strip that is on the car now??? or is a new chrome lockin strip better to use???? thanks >Rude< |

you will prbably find rust under that seal mate.... And no get a new locking strip... Mike |

Yeah , best to get a new locking strip as the old one has probably "set" into the shape of the windscreens bends , unless you get it exactly in the same spot it can stick out at the corners , new strip isn't bent and sunbaked so will bend where you want it to . |

yeah they are pretty cheap (less than $100 if i am correct) so go replace both the rubber and the strip. make sure you clean up any rust if there is any and let the rubber and the strip sit out in the sun for a bit so its a little more pliable. make sure you get it right into the corners as theres been a couple people on here posting about why the rubber has bubbled in the corner. and you dont really need a special tool to affix the strip, a screwdriver and some elbow grease is all you need |

im gettin it professionally done, coz its gonna have a new windscreen put in and the company cant find seals for it (useless people!) so im gettin it for them rather then waiting for them to get their act together. but yea thanx everyone cheers >Rude< |
