am i right in thinking i only have to tighten the oil filter by hand and shouldnt tighten using the strap that i used to take it off i know i read it somewhere but cant remember just hand tighten ? thanks in advance |

For ryco filter it says to turn 2/3rds of one turn after contact with gasket, this is easily achieved by hand. Just check for leaks after warming engine up Daniel |

I assume a spin-on. Slightly more than hand tight...unless your name is Schwarzenegger. The idea is to bring the rubber gasket up to the mating face and then slightly compress it....say 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn after contact with the filter wrench. The last thing you want is for the filter to unscrew through vibration and dump your oil. |

make sure you've oiled the rubber lip otherwise you'll have a hell of a time getting it off |
