Hi all.

My mini has just 'failed to proceed' in Redfern/Surry Hills.

I've just got a taxi back home and need to quickly decide what to do.

Do I?

a) Get it towed home, knowing that it's likely to sit there for 2-3 weeks and then cost me more later to tow it to a garage?
b) Get it towed straight to a garage?

The problem is that with it being just before xmas the chances of me getting a mini place to get it fixed in the next couple of days is small and I don't even know if the parts are readily available (it's a 1990 Rover)

I don't think that a clutch replacement is within the realms of my skill level at the moment so it is bound to end up at a garage anyway.

So...

any suggestions for who to call for 24 hr towing?
any suggestion for who in Sydney would be able to replace my clutch over the holiday period?
any suggestions for the best place to get a replacement clutch for a Rover??

any better suggestions that i've not thought of yet?

Need to decide quick so I have time to get tow arranged before it gets too late tonight.

Cheers,
Steven

Are you in the NRMA? If not it would be a very good time to join!

Get it towed home. At this time of year a mechanic will not want another undriveable car in the workshop.

A clutch is not that hard to fix but you do need the right tools, especially the flywheel puller.
Are you sure it is the clutch? Could it be something else like a driveshaft poping out of a CV joint?

Get it towed home. If you leave about Redfern all you will have left are the wiper blades.

Cheers guys - decided to join NRMA and pay the extra for the immediate assistance (otherwise it's a 48 hr wait) and get it towed home.

Will have to take the hit on the extra tow later!

The extra amount cost the same as a tow anyway so at least i'm joining up which is something i have been meaning to do.

Just gotta get in the other car now and go back to meet the tow truck now.

So much for my relaxing night in front of the tv.

Get it home and you might be able to diagnose the problem yourself....and fix it yourself
