Post subject: | Sticker On Heater Box |
Hey....Does anyone know what the phrase or sying on this sticker means. This was on my heater box from my S when i bought it. I think it dates to around 1970. It reads ......"Once A King Always A King, Once A Knight Is Enough". ![]() Ian |

At a risk of sounding obvious I'd say its just a sexual innuendo (ie "sex once a night is enough") - dunno whats it doing on your heater though. |

What model heater is that actaully from? Mine in my 1964 850 (may not be original heater tho) has a verticle switch, also labeled 'off' 'screen' and 'car' but has 'off' at the bottem, 'screen' in the centre and 'car' at the top. Also the on/off electrical switch is under it, being just a toggle switch. It doesn't have any fancy plastic bits, just is as it is, the words from above are kind of printed onto the face of the heater, it's a rather ugly heater, but I think it's a MK1 'S' heater which may be the same as the old 850 one. WHich would make it rare? |

Its from a 1970 Mk11 Cooper S. These had an all plastic casing. The early ones like the one below were all metal. This is from a MK1 S. They may have differed slightly as years went on. ![]() |

Morris 850 had no heater fitted standard from the factory. There were a variety of heaters added by many, the Mk1 S or Cooper 997-998 type was popular. Later on, the MiniMatic/Deluxe/K fresh air one was optional. These had no fan though. |

Ok mines Cooper S. That annoys me that the 850 didn't have a heater. When I got my car inspected I got failed for a few reasons, main one being 'no demister pipes fitted' "it's an ADR" he said, I said the car has no ADR's it's pre-adr he said it doesn't matter. |

Find someone that knows the ADRs and what is applicable to what year. I fitted an after market hearter to my first Mini in 65 - It was a round box under the dash above the drivers feet with a "rammed air" pipe that lead out to behind the grill. You turned it on by opening the flap on the cabin side of the box and let the air through. It had hot water flowing through it all the time but later I added a tap at the block take off that I controlled manually (on at the start of winter - off at the start of summer ![]() ![]() |

Unfortunately Wombat, I can't find someone else. This inspector is at transport SA, there isn't anyone else, it's there or nothing. It's all ok, i got my demister pipes in and all. But what annoys me is that one of the inspectors (there were two) races a mini, I would expect him to know all of that, but no... He was more concerned that I had a Cooper S badge on my when it isn't (he thought I was trying to fake one, no I'm just replicating one, there's a difference)... ![]() |

Merry Christmas, Ian Yep those were a dealer fittted `BMC accessory' I think, about as good at heating as my MiniMatic one... Useless in traffic. No airflow. I have now added an Attwood marine bilge blower in the air duct to keep my tootsies warm and screen clear in winter. ![]() Only PVC, it cost me 35 bucks years ago, is still working... ![]() |
