Guys,

Just wondering if you can get roof racks for Minis, havn't really looked into it as of yet.
Also, if I can get them... How much weight should it be able to hold?
Would I be able to carry around a canoe / surf ski?

Cheers

Have you considered inflatable roof-racks?
It's like a li-lo strapped to the roof, and can be added or taken away at any time
without risking damage to the car.

Aside from the scratches to your paint and if they like the ones my mate has for his Charade they compress the roof when you tie them down.

I looked at the rolla racks guide at repco and they had a listing for Mini's. I think you just buy the standard type that they have for cars with a drip rail and then you cut the cross section down to size. I was considering it but my 6'2" surfboard fits inside. Just -- I have to pop out the backseat window.

You don't need roof racks. Get a van you can jam heaps of stuff in them! 8)

rollas will fit any car

you can buy the crappy looking t-bar ones that are adjustable in legth too.

they fit anycar with drip rails

your car will easily take a surf ski or two as far as weight is concerned

but i'm with nav

get a van.. leave the back doors open and you could fit a surf ski in there

I had a pair of old style racks on kermit in the 70's - ugly as but functional

I have transported a wooden double bed and other assorted household items that wouldn't fit in the van when moving house. I also used to sit up on top of them when spotlighting in the bush, all without any sign of damage to the roof or gutters. I'd say you'd be able to take your canoe without any weight problems - it would be the length that might draw some attention.

I got a cheapo K-Mart roof rack years ago which actually fits Skippy the van quite neatly. It takes a couple of boogie boards very well. Never tried anything bigger on it myself, but a mate transported a single bed on this rack on the roof of his 850 from Melbourne to Lorne! The rack and car were undamaged, but the constabulary were not too happy with him!

Guys

Thanks for the replys.
I thought you would be able to get them, but wasn't too sure on if the weight would damage the car, but should be sweet.

You'd be surprised. I fit a 500cc motocyle in there. 8)

Undo the passenger seat wingnuts, chuck the seat in the back [behind the driver] and slide in the ski down the passenger side.

Cheers Dat
