my parents are going to put some $$$ toward me buying myself a set of rims for xmas, and my dad is recommending 12x5...(which he HAD on his 1275LS until he sold it) i want 13" but have read that these dont fit very well... also i need to think about width.. and the availability of tyres. so any help is greatly appreciated!!!!

Also how many brands of mags are there for minis? i know contessa, minilite, superlite, minator... are there any others i should check out???? and wat sort of price would i be looking at???

Generally speaking, 13" wheels will require guard cutting.
Disc brakes and reconditioned suspension components are recommended.
Most 12" rims don't need guard cutting, but if the car is excessively low, they may rub.
Apparently, 13" tyres are a bit of a rarity in some places, but availability always changes.

As an exercise , go have a chat to your local tyre dealer with the various sizes and see what's available for each sized rim . You may find 13" are only available in higher end tyres and 12" are available in mid and higher end tyres . A bit of homework on tyre availability and cost could save a lot of grief in the long run if this is a daily driver and you want durable but good tyres .

You can get a decent amount of variety in 12s, and they make the mini look a bit more aggressive without putting too much strain on the drivetrain. If it's just for road 12s are perfect - keep in mind with 5s you may need arches to cover the extra width.

ok so every1 seems to think 12".... ok ill have a look around see wats available... but i dont wanna spend too much... is anyone selling any 2nd hand? or does any1 hav an idea of a price range? or good stockists? preferably sydney/wollongong area?

12x5 Superlights are about $165 per rim, tyres vary from $100 for cheapies to $220ish for road legal racers.
Packages may get a discount.

10"

10s for roundies, and 12 for Clubbies. I've found 10 inch tyres, even in 10x6 form to be cheaper than 12 inch tyres of most types. Oh yeah 13s or bigger (it's not a ricer, no need to go big...) are for fully modded mini's only really, Rover's can get away with them being of a newer style of car, just my opinion.

Saw these first thing this week... they are bloody awesome.
The centres are very smooth... unlike the 'rough' Performance cast.
The polish lip is sliiiiightly different, also.
They have small nuts, which are very sexy also.
THey come in 'charcoal' too, and Steve is waiting for the 10" version.
I know I want a set in 10"
