Hi, My min has a pair of cobra classic buckets that where fitted when I got her. The problem is that when your in the seat you can't reach the steering wheel or gear change correctly, i.e. your seemingly too far away. I have to drive sat forward in the seat. The column also seems wrong as the has the indicator stalk that you can push forward and backwards for flashing lights but a foot operated dimmer button? Any ideas on what I can do to get the proper 'over the wheel' driving position whilst retaining the seats? Maybe I should just bounce 'em and locate a set of standard seats? |

for $10 approx NEW, you can get a `steering wheel lowering bracket' which moves the wheel down a couple of inches. You have to loosen the rack U-bolts when doing this and tighten them afterwards. It could also be that the seats have been mounted too far back. re the high and low beam, the column switch does that normally. But the contacts sometimes burn out because they overheat with the lamp current (no relays in Mini lighting circuit)- then people put a foot dipswitch in, it's cheaper.

Certainly cheaper to test out than a new set of seats  Might bail over to Mini Classic Tuesday AM and have a word.

If you have a standard london bus wheel, you may find, depending on your size, it is too large when laid over....may have to investigate and alternate steering wheel as well. |

Mota lita wooden wheel, I think it's 15" The seats are cool, but I might also try to find some decent original front seats and subframes. What non mini seats are you guys using/suggest? I think I'd also like some high back recliners. I did see a cool seat of Suzuki Cappacino leather seats the other day .... |

I have nearly the same setup as you. A motolita wheel and cobra seats. What I needed to do was use the lowering bracket, then install the proper cobra subframes and modify them by cutting the first hole out at the front and cut out approx 1" off the back stands. This way the cobras sit lower and you can move the seats slightly closer to the wheel yet still be ok with the knees to wheel clearance. |

Cool. The seats are on cobra subframes so might have to investigate although my automotive technical skills are second only to my grasp of quantum physics

Im using a Cobra Subframe designed for the Mini and it is able to move the seat forward and backwards. Have u double checked that there is not a metal arm at the front of the frame which allows this movement? |

I can move them back and forth, the problem seems to be the angle of the steering column is too steep and if I get too close then the wheel is on my knees and I'm only a short arse @ 5" 7' Might have to try the lower bracket and the subframe chop, or offer lots of beer and food to a friendly soul to help me out in the chopping department if I get scared
