MK 2 S oil cooler hoses were a black colour braided hose, were they not? A braided material rather than a stainless steel wire braid? Where might one obtain a set of these today? NEW? A friend requires a pair for a MK 2 S concourse restoration. |

I thing there unobtainable new, however if you can get a good 2nd hand set you can use heat shrink to restore them to almost new condition. Doogie |

Yes similar looking ones to original are available, using 500psi hydraulic return line hose and barb `push-on' fittings. This hose is black, and textile braided, it's more flexible than the 1500psi steel braided hydraulic stuff. I get them from Pirtek. Also are good on modified motors with no cooler, they have better flow than the banjo pipe. Graham Russell uses it for this reason. Details: PIRTEK oil cooler hoses- 1- MPH-08 (35 bar, 500psi) 1/2” Hose, 320mm long (or whatever length you need). 2- BF1-0808P Fitting, push-on barb type ½” BSPP female. These fittings don't seem to be available with a bend now (from Pirtek anyway). If you need a 30* or 45* angle connection onto the cooler, fit a 1/2" BSP M/F elbow. Pirtek has them. BTW, these barb fittings are reuseable. Just cut hose, oil inside the end and push on. here's the one I made up for Chong's 1330- ![]() |

If he is doing a concourse car you can get the original ones second hand still. They have brass fittings and Smiths Petroflex written on a yellow band that runs around the hose near the fitting. They are expensive to buy tho, even second hand they are dear. If he wants a set PM me. i think I have a few sets in storage. From memory I think I have a brand new set too. |

I've got a pair here fitted to my Mk2, luckily I found them new old stock at a an old BMC dealership in Nambour Queensland! (Sorry for gloating). I have a second hand original floating about somewhere minus the outer rubber I could possibly dig that one up. |
