Hi everyone,

I,ve been looking into costs of importing some wheels from the UK and well its all getting a bit confusing, as i've never bought anything big from overseas before.

I just wanted to hear other peoples thoughts on the matter,so if anyone has done it and can explain the process thee went through would be great so please let us know.

It would probably be helpful to a lot of people as everything so freakin cheap over there. :D :D

From what i've found out so far from the customs site ( below ) and import brokerages which correct me if im wrong or have misread is that items under $1000AU not including the freight charges dont get charged Duty / GST.

When i spoke to customs they said there might be other things like port charges for sea freight and flight charges for air???? and also need to get an import broker to complete a SAC declaration.

Anyways let me know of your experiences good and bad.

These are the wheels that im looking at getting $614 + $332 delivery
plus a couple other things included in the delivery price.

Keep the whole package under $1000 and you will not need a customs broker, have them send the items by post or one of the courier companies (DHL or the like) and it will just be deilvered like the post when it gets here, dont add other items to the packages as once the total goes over the $1000 duty and GST is payable on all the goods in the parcel. The sender does the customs declaration paerwork at the sending end and no further paperwork needs to be done if it is sent as a parcel this end as all the courier companies have there own customs checks and it is included the price

Jon...weight and size of package matters sometime.....would you expect to get four seperate packages....believe it might be cheaper that way??

Sunburst said he has been quoted $330 odd dollars for freight so I asume he already has that sussed, the lasttime I looked last month to bring something weighing 9 kilo out they wantsed a round $200 for postage for surface mail, to exxy so I left it in the UK :D

If he has to get a customs agent count on a couple hundred dollars on top even if he avoids duty and GST, its a pretty flat fee
