Hi,
They were definitely pop rivetted including the GT's. Should be able to find the pop rivet holes.
If it is a genuine car check the bottom of the rear gutter (were the boot lid rubber meets -
above the rear beaver), there should be 1 pop rivetted hole in the gutter/channel on the left and right side close to the edge of were each fuel tank ends, and on the right hand side there should be another 2 pop rivet holes about 6/8inchs from the single righthand side pop rivet hole. In the gutter there is 1 pop rivet hole near the left & right tanks - the boot board is a very cosy fit, and 2 pop rivets offset on the right hand were the bootboard clips into a rubber mount.
If they cut the brackets out you would definitely see the whereabouts in the gutter.

Is there any possibility that someone could put up a couple of pics of the boot board brackets- all of them- in a MK1 Cooper S?? Some bright spark who owned my mini, cut them all out. I am restoring the car, so need to know the correct position of all the brackets. Also, a few pics of the boot board- how it fits?? Many thanks, Colin

The 5 brackets were pop riveted in place so the holes for the rivets should still be there. Have a look along the bottom of the boot lid opening. If it's a genuine car the holes should still be there even if they have been filled etc. Sorry don't have any pics. RonR

They wern't all pop rivetted - mine was '68 S and they were spot welded so there may not be holes. I am not sure when they began to spot weld them in. In anycase the boot board sits on the upright brackets and is located buy the two U shaped brackets on the firewall separating the boot from the cabin. Dont have any photos sorry

I think Karcraft still sell the bracket kit , or try Minisport in Adelaide

Dont have any photos sorry Like Mike I thought that around 67-69 they were spot welded in, it was one way of telling a real one from a mock up, the picture of the one above is a pommie built not Australian built as all Aussie Cooper S had twin tanks as standard and I dont think they had boot boards but matbe someone like Garham in aust would know more about the pom ones Jon

Theone above is an Aussie built (I think), the reason it only has one tank is it is a Cooper, not a Cooper S Steve

Colin sorry for not getting these pics up sooner, forgot that today was hospitals day. Just taken these and they should cover all you need to know. Panthersteve is right, it is of a Cooper boot but no matter, Cooper S is exactly the same. The brackets even in mine were spot welded but I have had to add rivets to the front brackets as after 42 years, the welds were starting to give way, David

David, the pics are really good. Thanks heaps for that. The Cooper S I have, had been smacked in the rear, and there was some sign of where the brackets were, but until now, I had never seen the whole setup !! I didnt know there were 3 brackets across the rear part of the boot. I have the centre one which I bought second hand, but it seems I need to get hold of the other 2 types. Anyway, thanks again, now I know what is needed. Cheers, Colin

Currently I'm making up 2 of the brackets (the one on the firewall and the outerside one at the rear) as the body I have was missing both of these. Will post some pics once I've folded them up to see how close I got them to the originals, but can see I may have some probs with the little rear ones as they have a little folded down edge. I know you can get a whole set of repro ones from minisport for around the $100 mark.
