Hey guys, having a little problem with my mini. Sometimes when I turn it off, the engine just keeps on going. Sometimes this happens for a short time and stops and other times it goes on for a long time before stopping. My dad told me it might be called pre-iginition. We have changed the spark plugs as we thought this may have been the cause (and they needed a change).

Any help on fixing this?

Another thing, I think I may have a bit too much oil in my engine. Is this a big problem at all? What is a good mini oil engine pressure?

You may have to lift the head and give it a de-coke. If its a bit oily and you only do short runs it will coke up a bit - you may get away with a coupl of good long steady highway runs to burn it out

I had this issue in my old 1100... Turns out it was a combination of two things.
1) Timing too far advanced
2) After long runs the lobes in the chamber of the head would heat up and act as a glow plug and given the excessive amount of carburettion I was running and the richness of the mixture it would keep on running....

This was my first Mini and I had no idea about tuning cars

So check the timing, if it's ok, learn how to pop that clutch or how to take the head off and die grind the lobes

'Run on' is often caused by a too rich or too lean carby.

I have the same problem too sometimes - usually a warning that my oil is getting low.

I also have the same problem but I have been told its due to hight compression have to find out what it is one day
