Anybody taken the lock barrel mechanism out of the handle? I have new bits for it but can't see how it comes apart. ![]() |

Dr. Most locks have a split washer at the end that goes after the little arm, When I cant fugure them out I take this off and normaly it works, However I have never dismantked a mini one though.. Can you take a photo? Mike |

I think there is a roll pin in it. Pete |

You need to get that barrel retaining pin out. They're usually covered in corrosion. Clean it up with a sharp needle to get the corrosion off, spray it with some crc then gently tap it right through using a punch of a smaller daimeter (a nail with the point ground off). The barrel will just drop out then. Tim |

Got split pin out and washers off. I can't get the handle out of the escutcheon... is there a trick to this. ![]() Locking plunger is sticking 1/2 out. Handle turns, barrel has been butchered by some villain and i don't have a key. |

The locking plunger is probably be holding it on, get an old key and jiggle it around to pick the lock, it will probably take 5-10 seconds to unlock it then the escutcheon should just slip off. Tim |

once you get the barrel out it may have a code stamped on the side of it with three digits a new key can be cut from this pretty sure all t-handles (boot locks) have the code stamped on the shaft so if you bought a complete handle set you can find a code there cheers Paul |

The lock has been jemmied with a screwdriver or something- it's not locked, if it was I couldn't turn the handle? When fully unlocked, is that locking bar fully retracted? I've bought new barrels and keys already from UK, just need to get it apart. I'll go try all my keys anyway.... ![]() |

OK I can see the problem now, the handle is unlocked so the bar is back, it sticks out and won't let me disassemble. ![]() It needs to be 1/2 way to `locked', but I don't have a key (which is WHY I bought new barrels and keys). ![]() Any reason I can't just drill the tumblers out of the barrel...?? ![]() |

Drilling the barrel out might work. They aren't tumblers as such, just little flat pieces of brass, with springs that push them across, if you can hack the springs up they should just flop around and you might be able to shake them into the unlocked position. I Still reckon you should be able to pick the lick with any old key. Tim |

I've jiggled all my new & old Mini keys in it, no joy. ![]() I'll stick it on the mill, and introduce a slot drill in there then... ![]() |
