I need a bit of help finding out what this camshaft is. I removed it from, what I believe was, a 'slightly' worked 1310 engine. The only thing I can measure is the lobe dimensions and the duration (roughly) but I dont think it is enough info to determine the exact camshaft spec. It has 1/2 inch lobes and a spider drive. The timing chain end has 113 stamped in it. There are no ribs or other identifying marks on the camshaft. SO from this information, I would guess that it was just a standard cam to begin with. BUT Every lobe has between 7.13mm (0.280") and 7.18 (0.282") of lift ....... which seems pretty high.... And as far as I can tell, it has around 285 degrees of duration. I only measured this on the second cylinder though.... From my charts, this seems pretty close to a 544 spec camshaft. Is this a good enough guess? Or do I really need to measure some more things (ie: to find out if it is a scatter pattern, or some other measurement)???? |

It has been reground. Could be a Wade or a Tighe cam but neither lists a 113, and both their 112s have lots less lift.. OTOH, don't always believe the stamped numbers- I have an 1100S cam stamped 544 but it's nowhere near that works cam spec. ![]() |

I didnt believe the stamped number at all. I guess the only way to find the true spec is to have it fitted to an engine and measure it off all 8 of the the pushrods...... |

You can just throw it in a block with a crank and degree wheel, then use a dial gauge on #1 inlet and exhaust pushrods. The question then is what lost motion do you allow to simulate rocker clearance, and what would that have been anyway. ![]() |
