On these switch panels, what was in the place of heater controls when no heater or tap was fitted? Was the hole the same size as the choke cable's hole?

I've got a switch panel here that I'm dolling up to fit in place of my crappy looking original one, and one of the holes ( the left most hole) is about 15 mm in diameter. It's so big that the heater control cable won't sit in it without a large washer thrown over it to make it to the bigger size. It doesn't look like it's been drilled out, but I'm unsure.

On my Deluxe there was a little chrome cap that pushed into the hole. As I recall it was the same diameter as the choke cable hole.

The washer pump usually has it's own bracket next to the steering wheel though, were they ever fitted to the switch panel?

Maybe mine had a washer pump put in there at one time or another.

My deluxe's left most hole just has a little chrome cap in it (same size at the choke hole). The washer pump is next to the steering wheel. Will post pic's soon.

It's possible that it depended on who was doing what on what day though , after so long there's no real way of saying what was definitely right , only what averages as being right depending on the model ...

Sports850's choke looks like it might need a larger hole perhaps?
I'd usually dismiss it as having been drilled oversize, but it looks like it's been pressed.

I'll have a look tomorrow , I know when I bought it the washer pump was missing and the choke was in the bracket near the steering collumn so anythings possible , I'll see what size it is and get back to you .

Mick,

I have taken a few pics of me with the verniers to give you some sizes, mine may have worn but hope this kinda helps. If you want me to measure something else just ask!

Image
^ Profile shot, i have taken shots from the biggest down to the smallest (not including the body (the biggest bit, but from the next size down)

Image
^ The bigger bit before the thread (18.44mm)

Image
^ The thread (15.23mm)

Image
^ the pusher itself (11.07mm)

Image
^ The mounting bracket it fits into
