http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Mini-Webber-45DCOE-c-w-warneford-manifold-aircleaner_W0QQitemZ290071631215QQihZ019QQcategoryZ32072QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

What's the copper looking thing on the manifold? It looks weird

heard Redline short manifold is good but dont know anything about Warneford

Will the air filter hit the edge of the firewall top edge?

Die grinder 24,000rpm, various carbide burrs, and a bit of 1/4" steel rod with a slot cut in the end for finishing. I cut a strip of 120 grit abrasive cloth and wind it around for that. Have to run grinder lots slower..
I spray Selleys RP7 in the ports as a lubricant.

Just grab any old head to practice on. smallbore ones are pretty thick.

I struck fresh water in 2 inlet ports whilst porting my 12G1316 head to Vizard specs. By then I had about 30 hours grinding in it. Nobody in Sydney would touch welding it.
So, (being a fitter/machinist/welder by trade) I lit the 2 burner campstove up, put head on it face down. Opened a beer. When beer gone (slow drinker) I turned head over, opened another. 8)
Then when beer gone I brazed it with manganese bronze rod. Turned stove off, put a cover over it all to slow cooling. Next day I decked the head to ensure flatness.
To test it I bolted 2 heads together with a head gasket, connected the garden hose. No leaks at ~800KPa. So good again.

As a general rule of thumb how much can you remove? Ans is there a how to on the net floating around?

If you mean how much metal can you remove porting it, I'd get David Vizard's book- Tuning BL's A Series Engine.
If you mean how much can you deck it by, .080-.100" on smallbore ones and 0.160" on large bores, approx.
It depends on a number of things, see DV's book for details.
Original head thickness on both head types was 2.750" approx.

I have had a bit of a look on the net and I cant find any where they polish the ports through the head, Alot of people talk about polishing the carb manifiolds and the combustion chambers butt I havent seen anyone do the ports in the head yet.. Is this dont or it dont make any diff on a mini?

Also polishing the actual valves aswell. And port matching the manifold to the head so there is no nasty step when the manifold meets the head. So people go to this extent when biulding mini motors or is this unpractised and only left to the V8 boys?

SHAPE is more important than polish, as far as the ports are concerned.
The head gives more restriction than the manifolds but both need work usually.
