hey
my starter has been playing up - clicking from the solinoid but no go - everything seems fine battery, leads all connected etc so its come down to the starter... the last couple 2 weeks ive had to pull it out a couple of times and give it a bit of a massage  and then put it back in and away it goes again.
can you mod or just fit a starter from another car?
or should i just buy a new one or get this one recond so it dosn't jam anymore.

or could it just be my batt is getting a little flat and not producing enough power to un-jam it when it gets a lil stuck?

cheers James

A gemini starter motor is a fairly easy mod to do.Theres a few threads floating around about it.

You may find new brushes and a polish of the computator with a bit of fine emery plus a wash of the spindle (with the spring thing) in kero will improve things no end

When the Lucas has gotta go, either get a Gemini one as said, or spend a buck and get a nice NEW pre-engaged one designed for old Minis.
Mini Classic sells one brand (very Bling), MG Heritage sells another.
Both work great. Both bolt straight on. But the Gemini needs the mounting holes elongated.
All 3 engage from the front, so no matter if the old Lucas has beat your ring gear up a bit on the back.

If off a geMini, no idea.
If getting a Nissan Pulsar dizzy, we just grab the coil too.

No idea but if marked 12V it's 3 ohm.
Most 1.5 ohm say `use with resistor'.
