Post subject: | mini numbers help please |
Hi guys, found myself a few mini's the other day (actually 6!) at a ladies place and went to look today. Can you guys possibly help with confirmation? 1 - white clubman drum brakes, r & l fuel tanks, wind up windows, sorry no motor, has 2 plates sitting inside car, so not sure if which is for the car YG2S7 10/71 -not sure what it is, so are there any other body tell tails to look for? 2 - clubman van drum brakes, 2 display dash (160 kph), engine bay plate 021 G2V1 MO9/4774, motor is 99H791P/1350 (998cc?). any info? 3 - white mini drum brakes, older turn down door handles, r & l fuel tanks, centre barnicle speedo (140kph/90mph), steel demister vent to dash on drivers side (looks original), motor may not be original as looks newly painted has # of 10013300. No visible plate for body numbers. Anything to look for to id this properly? Other 3 are in pretty average condition so probably massive jobs each and no motors to boot Any help would be great Thanks Cliff |

Y = Australian manufacture. G = 2S = 2 door Saloon 7 = Model variation number 7 = Mini Clubman (6 = Leyland Mini, 8 = Clubman GT) All Clubmans have wind up windows but the YG2S7 should have chrome around the door frames. Single tank standard and would have had an 1100 motor with a remote change gearbox. Should have an engine with the prefix 1001 or 1004. There should be a number stamped on the radiator shroud that is welded to the inner guard. cbs wrote: 2 - clubman van Leyland Mini Van,drum brakes, 2 display dash (160 kph), engine bay plate 021 G2V1 MO9/4774, motor is 99H791P/1350 (998cc?). any info? Body details 021 = Mini (not Mini S) G = ? (stupid compliance code that I have not decoded yet) 2 = 2 doors V = Van 1 = Trim level 1 (base model, probably rubber floor mats, etc.) M = 4 speed floor change manual 09 = 998cc engine Engine details 99 = 998cc H = High compression 791 = ? (silly Leyland code for each model) P = ? (I can't remember off the top of my head) cbs wrote: 3 - white mini This could be anything, There should be a number stamped on the body near the master cylinders or on the radiator shroud that is welded to the inner guard.

According to my list that engine number corresponds to a "Mini Clubman Saloon" - sorry but that's as best as my list does. |

The engine number prefix on the early Leyland Minis is a bit of a nightmare, they gave an code to each different car and then any changes to engine spec give it a new number. This list may not be accurate but it is a start, it is the result of a number of books. 1000 = Mini 1100 (Clubman base model) / Mini Van. High comp, direct gearchange. 1001 = Mini Clubman. High comp, remote gearchange. 1002 = ? (Possibly replacement engines) (has no gearbox) High comp. 1003 = Mini 1100 / Mini Van. low comp, direct gearchange. 1004 = Mini Clubman. low comp, remote gearchange. 1005 = ? (Possibly replacement engines) (has no gearbox) Low comp. 1006 = Moke. 1007 = Mini Clubman (may now be called a Mini S) / Mini Van. 1008 = Moke. 1015 = Mini S/ Mini Sedan (Leyland decided to cut down on the number of prefixes so all Minis and Mokes got the new code) 1200 = Clubman GT. Twin carb, Close ratio, remote change, high comp, electric fuel pump. 1201 = ? (Possibly replacement engines) High comp, no gearbox. 1202 = ? (Possibly replacement engines) High comp, no gearbox. 1203 = ? Single carb, standard ratio, direct gearchange, high compression, pollution gear. 1204 = Moke (probably the first Californian) |

1204 engine prefix is definitely the export model moke with 1275 and drum brakes produced in 1972 . |
