can you come to geelong and give my builer a bit of motivation? Ireally, REALLY want to do some work on my car, but theres nothing i can do til i get it undercover. Which means waiting for the builder to show up and rebuild our garage

mine would be on the road if it weren't for the money factor... i have a motor i have just put together in the front of mine and i can't start it because i don't have $100 for a battery
and depending on how the financial side of things go i might have to sell it before i get to start it... that sux...

Trust me it's all worth it. There was a time when I wanted to give up...about a year ago, but no! I kept going, and I'm really glad. Thanks dad for the push!...Anyways it's worth it becuase everytime I look at my car I think... "Me and my dad did that....I can't belieive we did that. .." I know what you think, I'm up myself, well I'm not, I just love my car.

I just found a list of the things I had estimated needed doing when I first got the car 18 months ago to get it on the road. Picture a blissfully ignorant man while reading....

Service & Tune = Done
Uni joints = Replaced
Muffler = Replaced
Flush out radiator = Replaced Radiator
Throttle linkage leaking = New Carby
Hydro Pump up on drivers side = Built a pump and pumped it up
Worn clutch spring bracket = Turned it around
Oil sump plug leaking = New copper Washer
Tyres = 4 new tyres thanks to Beefa
Steering rack bush = Replaced
Fix ignition switch = Done
RWC = Still required
Rego = Still required

After doing these I thought it'd be going on the road but an annoying whine in the gearbox needed investigation...

New gearbox required = Done

While the gearbox was out I was told to replace the engine bearings...

Engine rebuild = Everything inside the motor was replaced including clutch

There's been countless other bits and pieces replaced or fixed along the way.
No wonder I've run out of steam.

Let this list be a warning to all future sufferers inflicted by the mini bug, it might look ok on the outside but "it's what lurks within that's scary!"

Mate - for my 2c worth, I had the same experience with a 70s motorbike recently, and just kept fixing and spending and fixing and spending and not able to enjoy riding it for nearly 12 mths - I'd bought a real lemon from someone I trusted. I started to despair and question what the hell I was doing, but my motivation came from knowing that ONE day I'd be out riding it and having some fun - and that day has arrived and I don't stop grinning while I'm on it. All the $$ spent has been worth it for the fun factor.
My advice - hang in there and you won't regret it.

I can feel a little motivation is heading my way just from talking about it.
I might go out and give it a good wash and polish.

Then write a list of things I need to do and compare it to what I've done.

yeah right a list that always help, write a couple actually,

1 of all the things you need to get it rwc

1 with all of the bling things you need

then look around get prices etc etc ten u can buy stuff as you need it, when its on the road you will love it.
