hi, i have a 1275 (1100s) block which is going to the rebore's soon. the crankshaft is cross drilled. and has the standard cam which i plan to change. but i'm woundering if the extra money will be worth it. is there noticible different between both engines power. plus i'm wanting to know what would be the best cam (mid range) for the motor. i here that you can get them re grounded to your specs, but if i can, i would like a new one. what would be the cost of a new cam shaft and where would i be able to purchise it from. if anyone could reply that would be great , thanks |

In my opinion there's only one cam you should consider called a RE 13. As for re boring or overbore the engine I don't know enough to tel the proper facts al I know is I had my engine at 1330 and now 1360 and I notice more torque. I also changed my carbee at the same time from a 1 1/2 SU to a 1 3/4 SU. Good luck and as above these like 50 I'd say even more then that who has the knowledge to help you further. |

RE13 cams are usually reground onto a stock cam supplied by you. Contact Russell Engineering- (02) 9630 2195. I run a 1360, I've also built 1380s, and there is no head gasket problem with either a 1360 or 1380. I recommend a Payen BK450 head gasket. Available from most Mini parts places. ![]() Whether you go 1330, 1360 or 1380 is your call. Not much difference in power really. I recommend not going all the way to 1380 now, keep that for the next rebore. ![]() |

As the doc said. If it needs a re bore, only go to the next possible size, not all the way. 1275 blocks are just too hard to find, so if you go to 1380, next time it needs a rebuild you will need a new block. |

Yes sure can, but at around $600 for the exercise it better be an S block.. ![]() For common or garden 1275s it's hardly worth it. ![]() |

Yes ![]() But you will also need more than one carbie on a 1380 ![]() |

SW5 or 731 would make good camshaft choices |

Nah... 731 is too tame, and SW5 even tamer... ![]() Work OK for small motors... An RE13 will beat both easily for HP. |

go to 1360 before going to 1380. In the simplets terms the power difference will be (1380 - 1330) / 1330 which is 3.8% which is Bugger all! The difference between 1360 and 1380 is 1.5% which is even less than bugger all, and you will have another rebore left on the block. Go the RE13! |

.060" or larger or smaller. i'm just wanting to know so that i can arrange what size piston i need. thanks +.060" gives 1330cc, +.094" (73mm) gives 1360cc, +.115" (73.5mm) gives 1380cc. ![]() I'd recommend either Hypatec or Russell Engineering pistons. They are both very strong. |

& if/when doing the re-bore, make sure you have the engine reco place "OFFSET" the bore to suit the head gasket spacingingingings-ings-ings ![]() If the engine shop doesn`t know what you`re talking obout with "OFFSETTING" the bores then don`t leave your engine with them,,, they obviously havn`t done mini donks before if that`s the case. |
