It's great having a friend who owns a mechanical workshop, and even better that he has 30 years experience, is a cleanaholic, only buys the best tools, knows minis like the bacl of his hand, own a revolution racegear franchise and lets me use his hoist and workshop on Saturday mornings while he runs the revolution shop.

This morning we pulled the remote shifter out of the car to fix a rattle. We found a few warn parts and tightened everything up and packed it all with new grease. While we had it out he got the Oxy tourch out and we put a kink in the gearshift so I can reach it easie.r Wiith the seat on the floor and moved right back past the B pillarI had to lean forwrad to put it into 1st - NOT NOW..

The other thing we did was install some air ducting for the Carby. I attached a big brake cooling duct behind the grill and put a bit of flexibe pipe to the carburetor, it runs heaps better now and not so much fumes in the car.

nice job oz, looks great.

Top idea about bending the gearstick. That ducting does make a little difference, i put it on my mini when it was a series powered and on the freeway it reved alot harder.

Hows the mini going, is it as quick as your old green machine?

brad.

Ah the old green machine. The only video I had of it running with the super shiny stainless steel exhaust system went missing. It was pretty awsome but very loud because it was basically a straight through 2 inch system with one tiny hot dog wrapped in stainless, hard to explain but I have a pic here somewhere. Problem was when the revs got to about 6,000 it would go flat and would not rev past 6,200 but up to that it was fun fun fun.

This mini I have now goes harder once you get it going because of the webber but the old car had better low down poke because of the diffirent cam and twin 1.5 SU carbs. I can run up Mt Ousley in this car and just keep accelerating even on the steepest part of the hills which surprises a lot of bigger cars when you power away from them.

1380cc = nice on hills, even with the 286 cam... 8)

<edit> The old green one only had a 731 cam, but it went a bit harder when we stuck 1.5 rockers on it.
