Post subject:  PCD modifications

What can anyone tell me about modifying the PCD of a mini? I've just read about adaptors that can do this, but would like to know more info if anyone ahs any.

Only ones I have heard of are bolt on spacers that have a second set of studs
on a different PCD to stock.
They're pretty wide, as they have to cover the old nuts.

i guess you have to ask yourself why you need to modify the pcd. if its to be able to buy different sets of wheels, why not just get them redrilled? and im not sure but you might need to get something like that engineered since its altering from standard which would cost a pretty penny

The reason I'm looking at doing it is because I've found a set of 10*5 wheels that I really want, but have a 4*144mm PCD and cannot be drilled.

What is it off? Sounds like a boat trailer or something.

The wheels are meant for ATV's as I'ved discussed in another topic, and they are weight loaded high enough for minis, but cannot be redrilled to suit minis.

Thats an example of a good looking 10" wheel 8)

So don't get them.
Go and look for some golf buggy rims in the same pattern.
A lot of them are 4" PCD.

Lets say you want to run those on discs, you'd need sportspac flares to cover
them for how much they stick out.

The person from the manufacturing company suggested gold buggy wheels n supplied a website, but it only had 10X7's on it. He told me he has done wheel and tyre packages for mini's from the website before. http://www.fairwayalloys.com
But 7's would be a lot worse than 5's.

The other issue with the wheels you want is you'd need a 7" diameter drive flange/spacer. You probably wouldn't see through the rim with that behind it.

There were a few threads in here somewhere discussing the 10 X 7 wheels and tyres as someone was selling them on ebay , I think tyres for them was the main problem , well , street legal ones anyway ... If you can find wheels with the right PCD or at least can be drilled you'll be a lot better off than trying to modify the cars PCD . Have you enquired to see if you can get the 10 X 5's undrilled and then get them drilled to the right PCD ?

Yes I have enquired and the response was
Quote:
I cannot drill them. If you are willing to modify your vehicle to make anything fit why don't you have some adapters made to convert your 4x4 to a 4x144 so you can use these wheels?

price is about $600 AUD I think, but as the discussion is at the moment, they're basically useless unless you want to completely mod the mini.

Hmmm , that makes it dificult then . As far as I know (anybody confirm or deny) any form of bolt on wheel adapter like that is illegal in Australia so it would have to be something like getting different hubs (well , drive flanges and brake drums at the front and bearing hub and brake drum for the rear) from something with the right PCD or getting something made . It would be possible but I dread to think of the cost or the engineering required .

Thats my main concern, price and legality.
I dont HAVE to have them, it's just that they look so god damn good and I WANT them sooooo much.
