Post subject:  blinker cancel - morris

Hey Guys,

Putting the mini back together. On the morris vans, I guess mine is late 60's with the little green light on the end of the indicator stalk, do they have auto cancel on the indicator after turning?

There is a lug on the colum for this, but things just are not lining up. I did have the colum out of the car, but not it's in and it seems to be pretty close to the floor where it bolts on. Does it just need to be pushed on further / harder - or is this not a feature of this model?

(edit: I'm sure the bolt and grove were lined up where it meets the rack at the bottom of the colum.)

the lug should line up with a little spring loaded thing on the stalk assembly. You should be able to fix it by sliding the steering column outer up or down on the column to position the lug properly.

if you didn't check - the bolt at the bottom of the column needs to be horizontal and closest to the floor for the canceling to cancel at the right time :)

I'll see if there's room to play with the outer. The idicator looks like it would cancel with a lug, it's just too far away.

I've fiited a drop bracket for the colum if that stuffs it up?

Time to go play. Thanks.

Thanks heaps skssgn, it works!

When I was looking at the colum I thought the bracket was tack welded etc in place, but it aint! Also thought it was meant to hit the chrome bit and wondered, what are those spring tabs for

My over spray that got on the colum even meant I could do the drop bracket up in the correct spot without playing with the steering rack bolts.

One step closer! better go get this carpet sorted. Cheers, Tom.
