Post subject:  Yet another hydro pump

Hi all,
The Holden dealer here in Cobram used to import Minis so I approached them in regards to pumping up my hydro.
They kindly offered to charge me 85 dollars for an hours labour, and I had to supply the fluid.... well, I am not going to do that, so, I made myself a pump from the grease gun idea I have read about here.
It was a piece of cake. I have pics of the setup if any of you want to have a go at it. Basically, I got a metre and a half of 1/4 hydraulic hose, various fittings to suit, and an air line fitting, female, to clip onto the male fitting on the valves.
The local tyre place has these types of air fittings, they are designed to allow a hose to be put onto it to fill tractor tyres with water, and allow the air to escape through the fitting. Cheap as hell to buy, and I have two, which will be permanently fitted to the car for future use. I picked this fitting mainly because I can just clip the line onto it, and not have to find the thread and turn the whole unit like the last one I borrowed, plus the whole thing cost me 47 bucks to make.
Just thought I would show any interested parties, and I am happy to build more for those who want one. I chose 1/4 BSP threads as they are common if I intend to upgrade it and fit a guage. Quite simple and about half an hour to create.

Hey Damo, well done I take it you don't need to borrow mine.
Do the clip-on fittings hold up to the pressure ok?

Yes I packed the sads and just went out and made the pump, so thanks for lending me yours. The clip on fittings hold pressure up to 500 PSI without any problems. Its so much easier to have the two fittings on the car and just clip the pump onto them instead of swapping left to right trying to get it all good.
The only thing i would have liked to try is a tap to return the fluid to bleed the air out of it all.
So far so good. Car is as stiff as a board now and not trying to wander all over the road.

How many fingers can you stack up between the chrome strip on the guard and the top of the tyre :?: (Front should be slightly lower than back)

Front is slightly lower and I have it pumped up enough for three fingers between the guard and the wheel.
