Just picked up an 22G1128 4 synchro box. What I think is the reverse detent spring nut (the nut on the top right of the fins looking at the front of the box) has two electrical connectors sticking out of it. - Can't find any reference to it in any lists/catalogues or photos. Is the reverse light switch?

Yes it is.
Not all of these 4 synchro boxes had it, only `71 on I think.
Box was used in Mini K, Mk2 S, 1098 Clubby, and Clubby GT.
If you don't want/need it in your 850, just replace it with the hex plug off your old box. :wink:

It is definately reversing lights, they were an option from about 65 and standard from about 71 (when ADRs made it mandatory) The NSW Police Cooper S' had them in about 68/69.

If you don't want it just pull out the switch, spring and plunger (you need all three to make it work) and send them to me!

Now now - I missed out on a better gear box (appeared to have not long been rebuilt and no slop or side movement) with flywheel case with breather - turned out to be rod change :evil: So any plusses on this one are a bonus.
