If you are just doing the wheel well, any flat piece of suitable thickness will do. You can buy it from places like Spectrum in St Mary's (for sydneysiders) by the sheet or half sheet. A full sheet costs around $40 from memory.

I've even seen someone use the side of a computer case as a patch, hey Doc? 8)

Washing machines are a good , cheap source of panel steel 8) Most dumps will let you cut the side out of one .

KB

It was an old XT case, were about 1.2mm thick in those days.
Current cases are way too thin.
But as KB says, any flat steel will do, around 1.0-1.6mm thick.

Boot floor is the thinnest part of a Mini due to the stretch forming of the wheel well.
Most donors will be rusty too.

I also am after a rear wheelwell as mine is also full of bog and holes. Would be interested on how to make one Mike. Would you be able to give some info on it as I might give it a go too, just can't fuigure out how to curve the metal correctly.

The other way is maybe cutting up a Rover rear cut, does anyone know if the wheelwell in these is any different to a Morris???

Post subject:  how too

hey Mike maybe you could write a how to.
It would be good to have some instructions on how to make a boot floor because they always rust. being a proffesional you would be able to let us all in on some trade secrets and show us the right way to do it. not the dodgy backyard way.
Its just a thought. It would be a pain in the ass but we would be greatly appreciative.

Cheers
