I dont have a ball joint splitter, so I wanted to ask if there is any other way to take ball joints apart.

Does anyone have any trick that they want to share?

Trick is to buy a ball joint splitter....
You won't get it off without one. Go to kmart and buy one. There about $12ish. Bestt to use the screw type one. Well they work best for me.

Cheers

Aaron

Yes there are tricks that will get them off (usually) without using a puller, but as Aaron said a puller is the way to go. I bought mine (a Pommy made screw type) 30 years ago and it's still working..

Whatever you do don't hit the end of the thread with a BFH, regardless of whether a nut is on there or not. You will just stuff the thread and postpone the agony.

I used the mega tuning fork type splitter for years, but it was crap as it always tore the ball joint boot.

Last weekend I bought a cantilever jaws type splitter from Repco for around $30. It made splitting the ball joints a dream.

Well worth the investment IMHO. I can supply the part number if you want.

Cheers.
