Is it possible to replace the threaded mounts on the bonnet hinges or is the whole hinge to be replaced? Will the UK quick release ones fit? Anyone wants to sell me a pair of bonnet hinges in good nick? |

You should find if you reach your hand up under the scuttle panel, where the threaded bracket pivots, there's a bolt that it pivots on. This can be undone with a couple of 7/16th spanners ![]() Not sure about the fitment of UK ones... |

Mike is talking about the `studs' on the end where the bonnet attaches. They are really a special headed bolt projection welded to the arm. They can be ground off, the arm drilled out, and stud replaced by a bolt (preferably a grade 5 or better). This can be brazed or welded in- with a proper job done it can look pretty original. ![]() |

I had this precise problem. Take to them with a bench grinder and grind off the welded head bit and knock them out with a pin punch or the like. Then just use nut and bolt. If you are clever you can weld a new nut again |

Thanks guys. What about the minispares quick release hinges, would they fit the aussie roundnose bonnet? |

Doesn't look like it... They say for MK III onwards where the hinges are mounted further apart. |

Fixed it ages ago but forgot to update. I just pressed the studs out with a vice, enlarged the holes with a drill, cleaned and repainted the hinges and refitted with 1/4in UNF high tensile bolts. Works fine. Thanks for your help. |
