Post subject:  Honda Brakes/Superlite Wheels

I know i had mentioned ages ago that i couldnt get the Honda Disk Brake conversion to go down on my car cause of the wheels.

Well ive just taken some pics so that people can get an idea wat i was on about. Ive thrown away the discs and calipers, but basically the issue was the caliper would foul on the step on the inside part of the rim.

I bought these wheels brand new from Beaurepairs in 2003.....? If i wanted to do the conversion it would require it to be done to suit 10in rims.......

I'm sure Josh's (mini mad) Superlights had a well nowhere near that size.
We built the 9.1" Hondas with a 25mm spacer to get track original, but just for laughs one day we took the spacers out, and they still bolted up and missed the caliper etc.

Can't really tell from the pics, but this is one of the pics of have of the rear of my wheels, they cleared the honda's easily, but they don't look too different from yours...?

Maybe you had the wrong type/year of brakes?

I seem to remember late 80s on Honda Civics had a bulkier caliper mount, similar to Mitsubishi....

Hmmmmmmm.......... They do look the same, and, ur front wheels are the same as the rears also? Wat year exactly, civic discs did u use?

I just had search for my old post and it seems i was using 84 model civic gear? Thats wat the wreckers told me anyways?

I did have pics, but not any more. Basically there was just no way the caliper would fit, the spacer would need to be like 3inchs wide for the caliper to clear..... The actual rotor itself was 9 inchs in diameter, and the inside diameter of my rim, where that stepped section is, is just on 10inchs....

Any chance of u taking some meausurements of ur rims/rotor?

His rotors were 9.1", and they were off an 84/85 Civic.

Use City brakes instead of Civic? 8.4" and you'll have no issues with clearance. :)
