Post subject: | Driving your mini... |
I got my mini back on the road after having it garaged for a over a week to do some much needed cleaning up of the front speaker set up. Spent about 30 or so hours fiberglassing up some pods for the kick panels, (for my 1st attempt at glassing it was more hazardous than i'd expected!) Finally completed it about 11:30 last night after another 12 hr slog!! ![]() Went around to a mates house and was still wide awake when i left so was keen for a little drive.. Well that turned into an early morning run through the adelaide hills ![]() I drove her pretty leisurely for 90% of it with a little spirited driving out of the last few hills ![]() It's probably the slowest i've been through there but damn did it feel great just hugging the corners, flowing through the fantastic adelaide hills roads, with the black top to myself, (all within 5 minutes of the city ![]() Finished it off with a bath for the old girl at BP (hand wash of course), as a thank you, where they had some great beats blaring out of the stereo- found out they crank it early in the morning. Might make it my weekly wash time. No waiting ![]() I know sometimes they pi$$ u off, but it got me thinking... (Here's a few ideas-sure there's plenty more) |

I like driving the LS anytime but I did vote driving it after it has had some upgrade on the mechanical side and see what sort of difference it has made to the car... From what it was as a standard 998 when I bought it to what it is now, it is just a different car to drive, more power, better handling and better creature comforts.... |

my998 is pretty far from standard too.. hopefully sometime this year she'll be blown too so that should be fun. Just seems that most times when i take her out i end up with a smile on my face one way or another.. i suppose thats why there's such a passion for 'em. Whether it be a sweet drive somewhere or somebody commenting on the old girl. Of course this will all change when something goes wrong.. But that's cool- i'm feelin the love today- can u tell ![]() Gotta love the mini don't cha ![]() Everybody should drive one at least once i say **gives a nod to all mini owners** |

Sweet. Good 2 see another one coming along in adelaide! I'm going to to have to join that vote aswell. Looks like i'll be rebuilding my gearbox now. Ah, it'll give me a chance to clean up the engine bay, not all bad news. The bad news for today is i have to do all the housework i've been putting off while working on the mini- Priorities right?!? Damn i wish i could afford a maid.. One of those french ones ![]() |

Everytime I can drive mine I do. Last night my car was still apart (supercharger kit is a little harder to install than first thought.....). So I drove the clubby to work. It's still fun just not as fun, as it's not my car, and I noticed it doesn't turn heads! ![]() |

Been a while since ive driven one, but I find it easier to think of times when the minis were simply a pain in the arse to drive. 1. on a 35+ degree day in an 850 with sliding windows 2. In heavy rain. 3. On the freeway But just like any car, the best time to drive it is right after it has been washed.... with the paint and chrome all shiney, clean carpets and dashboard. But I always prefer cold and overcast days for driving, with lights ablaze. It just makes the paintwork shine and reflect so much better. |

seeing as i havnt really driven meeni much on the road i put track, theres no better feeling then knowing that nothing is coming the other way and you have no speed cameras to worry about. |
