Post subject:  HELP!!!! Water pump suitability for an A+ series

Hi all,

Does anyone know whether water pump, part no: WP3709 is suitable for an A+ series engine?

And is $45 a good price (brand new)?

Cheers,
Jodie

$45 brand new is a good price. Not familiar with the part number, but what is it listed to ft? I think 1275 need the narrow impeller type to clear the inside of the water jacket where 998/110 can use either.

The main difference between an A and A+ water pump is the bypass hose. You have to block it off when fitting and A pump to and A+ block.

Hope this helps.

I think that price is really cheap from memory. Just replaced the water pump in mutant about 3 weeks ago. We got ours from Mini Mac's and he plugged the hole up for us.

Thanks. :)

It's listed as fitting 848/998/1098/1275.

That should be fine then?

The pump part number you quote is most likely to be a narrow impellor type and is not really suitable for a 1275 engine. This pump should have a hole for the by pass water to flow through. A+ engine did not have the hole. You must buy a large impellor pump so engine will not run hot.

Hope this helps.

Here's the link for it. Can anyone tell the impeller type from the photo?

From the photo i would say it is not a mini water pump. The part number quoted certainly is but the pump is not.

Total agree with Karcraft here it seams to be upside diwn with the by pass being on the bottom rather than the top when fitted... :?: unless the photo has been flipped or a Negative of.. :!: :?

This guy has a lot of stuff that looks repo. (battery covers, mud flaps etc) I'm always a bit wary of people on eBay that don't allow pick-up , it's as though they have something to hide. I would seriously looked at buying some of his stuff in the past as his location is near my daughter and she could pick it up and include in stuff she sends up or we're down they 3-4 times a year and I could collect. but his attitude the the "Fine Print" has put me off.

Thankyou all for your advice :D

I'll let it go, don't want to buy something that "may" fit, I don't like guessing when it comes to my toy...

And I agree with the whole "no pick-ups" thing sounding suss. I always say "come around and have a look/pick it up" if I'm selling something, and I know most sellers do the same. I've made a few friends that way through eBay....

Definitely not A series, has no lug for the alternator mounting.
Looks a bit like a Hillman Imp, to me..
