hey
i might be going down the turbo route, i just need to know what turbo parts people are using, part number and names of the car taken from would be great,

ok so maybe that was a really short question, it was late at night and hoping to get an answer in the by the time i got back from work,

what i should have asked is what sort of turbo should i go for, i was thinking maybe the turbo out of a miztsa, or a starlet, i was only after 7 psi

metro turbo set up is easy, but expensive, it runs a garret T3, yes a t3, like some skylines run, yes that is big, but i think it runs different turbine.compressor wheels to the skyline size one :D

is it laggy, would it be worth while buying the metro turbo(just the turbo) or modifying the t3,

i swear t3 is a huge turbo for a 1.3

Unless you are going to make a custom setup, you would be better off getting a complete metro turbo system.

If you are going down the custom route, a TD04 off a Subaru Impreza is as big as you'd want to go. Can be picked up for about $200 (got mine for $150 with only 30,000km on it - like new)

The metro turbo complete setup won't fit into a mini without extensive bulkhead/firewall mods which would then need engineering , best way is to use the carb and plenum chamber (bolts to rear of carb and boosted air gets fed into it from the turbo) and make your own manifolds to fit . Do a search here for turbo by kazjim and you'll see his impressive setup for some ideas .

i was going to make the manifolds my self, ive been doing alot of maths, :wink:

the reason why i was going to use the miztsa is because it is the same ones they use on the bussa kits, i know ive spelt it wrong it would be great if someone could tell us how to spell it,

just other thing i need to run past you turbo geeks is turbo headers, i would have thought a turbo header would have been similar in the way an N/A header worked, why dont they have all the pipes running into each other evenly and how do they get away with out doing the maths with regards to having each pipe holding 1 or 2 of the equivlent of that that comes out of that exhaust port,

i believe its a space thing, you just cant fit the propor manifold down the hole! also, the ineffecient exhaust is overcome by the extra power gained :P

1310cc
port 1(440cc) port 2 (1320cc) port 3(880cc),
number in bracket shows how much the pipe will hold,

i will rename this thread also

For me a T28 from an SR20 on on a big bore would be ideal.

Advantages = manifold flange design is interchangable from a T2 to all other frame sizes up to 400hp+ rated roller bearing designs.( GT series )
not much lag, cheap to buy and repair, plenty of parts available.

Disadvantages = Physically quite large especially the compressor covers on the later S14/ S15 200 sx.
No good after 14 psi like all factory spec turbos they lose efficiency

im lost on this now, its over my head, BUT, go get a piece of pipe, bloch an end, and see how long it needs to be to hold 1300cc of water, now add 880cc and 440cc and try get the pipe down the back of your engine! :D
its alot of pipe.
take into concideration that you want to keep gas velocity as high as possable, so your looking at 1 1/4in pipe, thats alot of pipe...id just make what fits and flows as well as it can :?

agreed on the T28, thatll go nice :P

I want that metro setup, wish i had the $$$ :(

The std metro T3 unit has a .25 A/R on the turbine. It comes on at around 3-3500rpm maybe less if milder cam and higher compression.

If you are going down the nissan garrett path try to find a T25 with a 0.49 A/R on the turbine, I think the SR20's had .49 and .64 or something depending on year.

Should be able to get the T25 turbo for ~$200 SH
