1275 head. the 940 could be any 1275 spec (Cooper S, 1100 S, 2000 Rover, etc). They used the same code on 99% of 1275 heads. The 1316 is a 1275 LS/late Moke 1275 head with air pump ports.

12G1316 is off a 1275 LS, or a late 1275 Moke. it is a `pollution' head, ie has 4 air injection ports for the emission control system. A 12G940 could be off any other 1275 A series motor made between 1968 and 2000, that particular number was used on numerous head castings including those on Cooper S, Morris 1100S, Morris 1300 auto, MG Midget, MG Metro, Metro Turbo, and UK 1275 Minis up to 2000. |
