Do your mini a favour and use Penrite - Please

Penrite is way too thick for new engines if you are talking about HPR30. I even think that Formula R 25/50 is too thick.

Do your car a favour and change the oil often like 1000 miles or 1500 miles and save money at the same time. Kmart oil is unbeatable at the price. Including filter you can do sub $16 oil changes as often as you like which in my book is better than using expensive stuff and leaving it for 6000 miles...

Using expensive stuff and changing it often will have nearly nil effect over using good cheap stuff and changing it often. The oil is not what kills an engine, it's everything else. dirt, gearbox shavings, polutants, petrol etc.

/end rant

I was using Castrol EDGE.......... but had heard that this KMX stuff did the job plus I like to change my oil regularly anyways even with EDGE I was changing it every 2000-4500 km's. I have used penrite before but didn't like all that much.

As for the filter comment I've a a filter for 2.50 and at the current price at Kmart for KMX 11.99 +2.50 = sub 16

Well according to that ad above it's $12 for 6L. Last time I bought KMX it was $11.80 or something. FSA brand filters can be bought from many places including a mob in Canley Vale for $3.99 each.

$11.80 + $3.99 = Sub $16.

Thanks

As for filters, you won't use them long enough to require anything that is magic. FSA brand manufactures filters for a large australian car manufacturer as well as supply to certain large automotive chains.

The term "any filter will do" almsot applies here as you only use them for 1000 miles. Many of the expensive filter brands have special bypass valves etc. You won't get close to needing to use the bypass when changing oil that often...

Unlike modern cars, minis share the transmission, so yes, in our special case, it is better to change oil often
