how hard is it to get the original circle dash for the morris minis, some young punk that i bought my mini from has striped out all the interior and replaced it with black carpeting and the leyland dashcard and door cards i dont mind it but its fallen apart and id rather put the original stuff back in otherwise ill juz have to make up a new dash and door cards for it what would be better? |

thats how this one was mad i reckon and its fallen apart what i mean is, is it worth me looking for the original morris dash circle or juz making a new dash card cause i was thinking of putting wood grain interior |

Maybe it was just the person who made it. i made my dash like that and in a couple of years it still doesn't look like falling apart - still looks the same as when I put it in. |

I made thos dash cards some time ago and they are still fine. If you match the vinyl there is no reason why they wouldn't look original. In fact I have seen repo's for sale and beside my few bubbles mine look identicle. I guarante you will be happy with the finished product. Just try to get an existing card to use as a template. |

The originals weren't anything flash, they were made very simply. Make these ones up as in the link, and you will be proud of the finished product. I've made some myself and they have lasted years now. They get a little damaged if you put them in and out too often as they sorta pop into place once they're in. There's a couple of types of MG Black vinyl, coars grain and fine grain finish. Just check you have the correct type you're after before you start. Spend more on a decent brand of contact adhesive, cheap brands will peel away after a short while. |

Have templates for for both the round gauges and the oval gauge. It is a pretty simple job, just a bit of cardboard, the right colour/style of uphostery and some good glue. Note the ones on how to do it, on Aus mini do not show the flap that goes under the door seal. Good luck. |

Unless you make them from very thin veneer or ply, they will not work so well as the original cards flex somewhat in place. They have a slight vertical curve and also curve a little from the out to inside. Can be done though, just need some light veneer which can be bought and maybe pasted to your card templates for strength?? Could look pretty nice. Traditional ply dashboard templates are about, with or without glove box if this is what you are after. |

The outer end of the dash cards have a small stepped section which folds back to slide under the door seal, it stops there being any paint visible between the door seal and the dash card |
